The second was the designer’s four piece principle, which is comprised of a sleeveless top, skirt, jacket and pants. The four pieces are of one, preferably dark, color that can be worn with coordinating prints. Davenport urges using dark colors because they are slimming and help make the wearer seem taller.
2010 marked Davenport’s 35th anniversary as a fashion designer, and in that year she was honored with two retrospective exhibitions held at the Perth and Fremantle museums. In January 2011, Liz was awarded an Order of Australia Medal “for service to the fashion industry, and the community.”
Despite her years of achievement, Davenport shows no sign of slowing down. She is currently planning a housewares collection, and is writing a book about fashion design and how to dress each particular body type.
“The next two years will be the very exciting,” Davenport says. “There is still so much more to do to help women all over the world look and feel their best.”
